Overnight Bridge Washing Activities Begin Monday in Allegheny County


Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing bridge washing activities in various locations in Allegheny County will occur Monday, July 15 to Wednesday, July 31 weather permitting.

Overnight bridge washing operations requiring single-lane closures will occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night in the following locations:

  • Liberty Bridge over the Monongahela River in the City of Pittsburgh

  • Ramp from South Duquesne Boulevard onto Duquesne Road (Route 837) in the City of Duquesne

  • Ramp from Duquesne Road under the Duquesne Boulevard Bridge in the City of Duquesne

  • Ramp from the Birmingham Bridge onto Forbes Avenue in the City of Pittsburgh

  • Ramp from Forbes Avenue onto the Birmingham Bridge in the City of Pittsburgh

  • Ramp from Smithfield Street Bridge toward Grant Street in the City of Pittsburgh

  • Lebanon Road Bridge over Union Railroad in the Borough of Brentwood

  • Smithfield Street Bridge over Station Square Drive, the Monongahela River, and I-376 in the City of Pittsburgh

All work will be performed by crews from Michael Facchiano Contracting, Inc.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 950 traffic cameras.
