The West Lackawanna Bridge Replacement is one in a package of four bridge replacements that comprise the Scranton Local Bridge Project. PennDOT, with the support of the City of Scranton, will replace the West Lackawanna Bridge, which carries West Lackawanna Avenue over the Norfolk Southern Railroad and Northeast Regional Railroad in Lackawanna County. This bridge replacement will also include signal and pedestrian upgrades at both the intersections of West Lackawanna Avenue and 7th and 9th streets and new decorative bridge lighting.
August 2020 Update
Throughout August 2020, workers will survey the West Lackawanna Avenue Bridge. The purpose of bridge surveying is to gather information for bridge design, lay out the bridge according to the bridge plans, and then, to prepare for line and grade.
April 2021 Update
The West Lackawanna Avenue Bridge Replacement project will host an online public meeting in June 2021 featuring Online Plans Display. PennDOT and the City of Scranton welcome pubic feedback via the public comment form prior to the meeting on the PennDOT District 4 website.
