Ahead of winter weather throughout western Pennsylvania today, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is planning to implement vehicle restrictions on part of Interstate 80 starting at 3:00 PM. Additionally, PennDOT advises motorists to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas during the storm.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is providing motorists with an update on the movement of a superload being transported from West Milton, New York to Wampum, Pennsylvania--a more than 400-mile journey. The superload is 213 feet long and weighs 294 tons. Due to recent, intense wintry weather, the superload is not expected to move overnight tonight.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising motorists that a superload will enter north central counties overnight. The superload is being transported from West Milton, New York to Wampum, Pennsylvania. The superload is 213 feet long and weighs 294 tons. The superload will continue its journey after 10:00 P.M. today and travel I-80 through Luzerne, Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, and Union counties. PennDOT expects the superload to arrive at the I-80 Loganton rest area early on Saturday morning. It will continue travelling after 10:00 P.M. Saturday, moving west through Clinton, Centre, and Clearfield counties and into Elk County.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising motorists that work to trim and remove trees is set to start next week on two different routes in Potter County. This work will enhance motorist safety and extend the useful life of the roadway surface. Locations for this work are Route 6 in the Sweden Valley area and Route 44 north of Coudersport in Eulalia and Hebron Townships. Work could begin as early as Monday, January 17 and is expected to last for several weeks. Work will occur on weekends if necessary.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), St. Marys Police and Highway Safety Network observed Winter Driving Awareness Week at an event held at the PennDOT stockpile in St. Marys today. The safety partners stressed the importance of preparedness in avoiding crashes or becoming stranded during a winter storm.

Locations for this work are Route 74 in Turbett Township, near the Perry County line and Route 2017 (Evandale Hill Road) in Greenwood Township, near the Route 235 intersection.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting drivers that a section of I-99 north in Centre County has re-opened. Earlier today, a multi-vehicle crash closed the road in the area of mile marker 76 in Benner Township, between Innovation Park and Shiloh Road.
