The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting drivers a period of lake effect snow showers with snow squalls is forecast for the Interstate 80 corridor in central Pennsylvania Wednesday, November 21, and urges them to reduce speeds and stay alert for changing conditions.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists to a road closure relative to its North Atherton Street project in State College. The entire project will take place through 2019, with phased work zones stretching from Aaron Drive to Park Avenue. Work will include relocation of numerous utility lines, relocation of sewer and water lines, drainage improvements, curbing, sidewalks, ADA ramps, traffic signal upgrades, new concrete median, and paving.

A roadway construction project is continuing on Route 255 (Bennetts Valley Highway) in Huston Township, Clearfield County. The project is located over Mine Cave Lane, near the village of Hollywood and entails removal of a structure and reconstruction of the roadway over a mine site.

​Construction continues on two Route 3040 (South Eagle Valley Road) bridges in Centre County. The bridge replacement projects were started in late spring and were expected to be complete in November. Due to unforeseen weather-related delays the projects are now expected to be complete in December.

​Construction continues on a Route 346 (Derrick Road) bridge spanning Foster Brook in Foster Township, McKean County. Construction to replace the bridge completed October 29 and additional work of repairing a retaining wall was incorporated into the project.

Construction continues on a Route 46 (Emporium Road) bridge in McKean County. The bridge spans Havens Run in Norwich Township, about three miles southeast of the village of Betula.

​The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting drivers that weather has impacted the work schedule for this week on its Atherton Street project in State College. Voting locations on Hillcrest Avenue and Village Drive will not be impacted by road work and will be accessible.

On Monday, November 5, the work zone speed limit will be reduced from 35 MPH to 25 MPH from Aaron Drive to the State College Borough line near Mitchell Avenue. This speed reduction will be in place until project completion in October of 2019. Once the project is finished, the speed limit will return to 35 MPH in this area. The reduction in speed was determined after a speed study was conducted. This reduction is expected to increase safety for motorists, pedestrians, and workers throughout the construction zone. The speed limit from Mitchell Avenue to Park Avenue within State College Borough is already permanently posted at 25 MPH.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting area drivers that road work is scheduled in the Bradford area next week. Currently, PennDOT expects work to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, November 7 and 8.
