The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that work to rehabilitate Smicksburg Bridge is set to begin Wednesday, March 4. The bridge spans Little Mahoning Creek near Smicksburg in West Mahoning Township, Indiana County, and rehabilitating it will allow PennDOT to remove the bridge from Indiana County’s list of bridges in poor condition.

With winter weather conditions subsiding, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has restored speed limits on Interstate 80 in Butler, Clarion and Jefferson Counties. Commercial vehicles may also resume use of the left (passing) lane.

PennDOT has lifted the temporarily speed limit reductions on Interstate 80 in Butler, Clarion and Jefferson counties. Traffic may now observe the normal speed limit and commercial vehicles are no longer restricted to the right (travel) lane.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that Clayton Railroad Construction will be working to repair an overhead railroad bridge spanning Route 68 (Main Street) in Chicora Borough, Butler County, beginning Wednesday, February 12. The work will maintain the integrity of the bridge’s timber structure and enhance safety for motorists traveling under the bridge.

Road work on State Route (SR) 68, between Chicora Medical Center Road and Landmark Alley, starts at 7 AM on February 3, 2020. While motorists will not be impacted until April when temporary traffic control will begin, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation urges motorists to stay alert, slow down and drive with extra caution while traveling on this section of SR 68.

Those who regularly travel on Interstate 80 Eastbound may be familiar with the sharp turn on I-80 EB at the North Fork Bridge, but for those passing through, the turn can catch motorists by surprise. As such, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is using new technology and updated systems to keep drivers safe around this turn by using sequential LED chevron signage, which follows along with the driver as they make the turn.

One lane of State Route (SR) 2029/Logansport Road is now open, starting at the intersection of SR 66 and ending at the intersection with Kelly Station Road after a landslide closed the road last week. Portable traffic control signals are currently in use until both lanes reopen.

A downed tree has closed State Route (SR) 4017/Watersonville Road starting at the intersection of SR 268 and ending at Crumm Road. This section of SR 4017 is expected to reopen at approximately 12 PM tomorrow, January 19, 2020. Motorists are urged to monitor www.511PA.com for real time updates concerning this closure.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has lifted all vehicle restrictions from Interstates 86 and 90 in northwestern Pennsylvania. Additionally, speed restrictions on Interstates 86 and 90 have been lifted, as well as on Interstate 79 from Interstate 80 to Lake Erie.

Due to high winds combined with sleet and ice in western Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is imposing a 45 MPH speed restriction on Interstate 80 and Interstate 79. Restrictions will remain in place until conditions warrant their removal. Additional speed restrictions on other interstates could be added depending on changing conditions.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has placed a weight restriction for the bridge carrying State Route (SR) 3010/Rearick Road over Blacklegs Creek in Young Township. The weight restriction of 29 tons is currently in place to preserve the safety of the travelling public and to prevent further damage and deterioration to the bridge.

The crash, involving a school bus and passenger vehicle, is expected to be cleared and lane restrictions lifted by approximately 10 AM today.
