In conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) “Click It or Ticket” campaign, Pennsylvania State Police troopers certified as Child Passenger Safety (CPS) technicians will conduct a free car seat fitting station today in Indiana County.

Short-term lane closures on Interstate 79 previously scheduled for December 4 have been cancelled due to weather and rescheduled for Monday, December 9, 2019, from 9 AM to 3 PM, weather permitting. On December 9, motorists traveling on Interstate 79 Southbound in Cranberry Township will encounter short-term single lane closures between mile marker 81.4 to 80.5. A map showing the affected area is available online. Motorists who travel on this section of Interstate 79 Southbound can expect travel delays and should consider alternative routes if possible.

Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) were out in force this past Thanksgiving holiday weekend to keep Indiana County highways safe for motorists. From November 27 through December 1, Indiana Station Commander Lieutenant Joseph A. Loughran and members of the Indiana Station were specifically watching for distracted, aggressive, and intoxicated motorists.

State Route (SR) 488 is closed between Pleasant Valley Road in Muddy Creek Township and SR 528 (Pittsburgh Street) in Prospect Borough due to a downed tree. This section of SR 488 is expected to reopen at approximately 11 PM today.

Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troopers will once again participate in the “Click It or Ticket” traffic enforcement program from Monday, November 25 through Sunday, December 8, 2019. If a motorist is stopped for a traffic violation and is not wearing a seat belt, the driver will receive two citations - one for the traffic violation and the other for the seat belt violation.

Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troopers will increase patrol efforts during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday enforcement period, which runs from November 27 through December 1, 2019. Indiana Station Commander Lt. Joseph A. Loughran and members of the Indiana Station would like to remind motorists to be safe, to drive sober, and to buckle up during their travels this weekend.

One lane has been reopened on Interstate 80 Eastbound between Exit 90 (State Route 830 East/DuBois Regional Airport) and Exit 97 (State Route 219/DuBois/Brockway) after a truck rollover earlier today. Both lanes on this section of the interstate are expected to reopen at approximately 5:30 PM today.

On Monday, November 25, 2019, from1 PM to approximately 3:30 PM, traffic traveling on Interstate 79 Northbound will encounter rolling roadblocks that will slow or stop traffic as a means of temporarily removing traffic from the roadway, from Exit 88 (Little Creek Road) to a turn-around right after mile marker 90.4, which is two miles past Exit 88. Interstate 79 Southbound traffic traveling on this section of the interstate may also be affected.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) District 10 reminds motorists that they can track its 163 snow plow trucks and check road conditions along their 6,961 snow lane miles in Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana and Jefferson counties, in real time, online, from the comfort of their own homes, or through the 511PA app.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to view plans regarding the bridge replacement project of the existing structure carrying State Route 4422 (Business SR 422/West Pike Road) over an Unnamed Tributary to McCarthy Run in White Township. This bridge replacement project will take place just south of the intersection of SR 4422 and Ben Franklin Road and north of Wolf Run Drive. A location map is available online.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has completed temporary repairs on the Interstate 79 Northbound bridge (near mile marker 91) in Lancaster Township, ending lane restrictions on this section of roadway. All lanes will remain open until the spring of 2020 when permanent repairs will take place.

Motorists traveling on State Route (SR) 68, from the intersection of Interstate 80 (Exit 62) to Dolby Street, can anticipate changing traffic patterns on November 21 and 22, 2019 from 7 AM to 6 PM. During this time, traffic will be switched onto the newly widened and paved roadway on this section of SR 68.

Beginning at 9 AM on November 20, 2019, motorists traveling on State Route (SR) 422 between Rupp Church Road and SR 2014 (Green Tree/Rinker Hollow Road) will be diverted onto the recently-built temporary SR 422 roadway until mid-summer of 2020. Additionally, during this time, motorists will not have access to SR 422 from SR 2012 (Silvis Hollow Road).

Current work in West Franklin Township to replace the existing structure carrying State Route (SR) 4035 (Craigsville Road) over Buffalo Creek with a single-span composite steel plate girder bridge has been extended and is now expected to be complete by mid-January 2020.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) western region invites the public to vote on 16 plows decorated by school students from Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Jefferson and Indiana counties as part of the “Paint the Plow” program. Voting closes at 11:59 PM, November 17, 2019.

Due to recent weather conditions, roadwork previously scheduled from November 15 to 18, 2019 on State Route (SR) 3020 (Freedom Road), between Executive Drive and Commonwealth Drive, has been cancelled. Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will announce dates and times when the work is to be rescheduled.

State Route (SR) 19 Northbound is currently closed starting at the intersection with Lindsay Road and ending at the on ramp from Interstate 79 South due to a crash. Icy road conditions caused a cement mixer vehicle to overturn on this section of SR 19. The accident is expected to be cleared and roadway re-opened at approximately 12 PM today.
