Exit 194 (Clarks Summit) ramp closure and detour to begin on Tuesday, November 12 at 7:00 AM and will be open on Friday, November 15 at 6:00 AM. Crews will be conducting bridge abutment repairs to the far abutment SR 8015 Ramp F bridge over Interstate 81.

Exit 175 (Pittston/Dupont) there will be test boring taking place from November 17 through November 26 at mile marker 176-177 on both north at south bound from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Exit 184 ( River St) to Exit 180 ( Moosic) I-81 NB/SB, Lackawanna County
This project consists of mill and fill which includes 9 bridges and resurfacing of existing bituminous interstate roadways and ramps and concrete bridge repairs. Other work includes guiderail, impact attenuating devices, temporary traffic control (day and night work), full depth shoulders to shift traffic at bridge work, temporary concrete barrier, excavation, delineators, signing, pavement markings, removal of portion of bridge, concrete bridge deck repair and miscellaneous construction. The project will be completed by the end of October 2020.
Exit 191 (Dickson City Business Route 6) to Exit 194 (Clarks Summit). This project consists of the milling and resurfacing of the existing bituminous roadway with Superpave scratch course and Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) wearing course, full depth bridge approach reconstruction, bridge rehabilitation work on six structures, temporary traffic control and pavement markings. The work on I-81 north will be in 2019 and 2020 for the southbound. Updated: I 81 Exit 191 to exit 194 North Bound. This project consists of the milling and resurfacing of the existing bituminous roadway , full depth bridge approach reconstruction, bridge rehabilitation work on three structures, temporary traffic control and pavement markings. This work will continue through November 2019.
I-81and 1-84 Pavement Failure Project: The project consists of concrete slab replacement and concrete pavement preservation activities in various locations on I 81 NB/SB from Exit 185 (Central Scranton Expressway) to Exit 186 (E Drinker Street) & on I 84 E/W from I 81 to Exit 2 (Elmhurst, PA 435) in the City of Scranton and Dunmore Borough, Lackawanna County. Concrete Slab Replacement includes the removal of existing concrete slabs, installation of subbase, new pavement joints, pavement patching joints, and new precast concrete slabs, regular concrete or accelerated concrete, based on location. Pavement preservation activities include dowel bar retrofits, sealing of the longitudinal and transverse joints, and diamond grinding of the new concrete pavement for a smoother ride. All work is confined to the existing highway . Work will continue on I-84 East and West bond temporary lane closures starting October 2 through November 1, 2019. Update: Short term work will continue day and night until weather permits.
Exit 17 ( Newfoundland) to Exit 26 (Trafton/Promised Land State Park) I- 84 Pike County will be down to a single lane eastbound and westbound from mile marker 21 to 26 for roadway reconstruction starting Mid-April till Mid-November. This will be the first of four phases of reconstruction of I-84 from mile marker 18 to 26. The project will be completed in July of 2023. Construction consists of total eastbound and westbound roadway reconstruction, drainage, signage, guiderail, eight new structures and new lighting.
Exit 30 (Blooming Grove/ Porters Lake) to Exit 46 (Milford):. Crews will be working on roadway and bridge reconstruction work between these exits. Three westbound structures and approximately 3.5 miles of westbound interstate roadway are to be completed during this construction season. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
Public Meeting Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Lackawanna County for College Road over Ackerly Creek Bridge Replacement Project, LA Plume Township, LA Plume PA on Thursday, November 14, 2019 starting at 6:00 PM. Plans display and presentation will be made. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the project team an opportunity to explain the project and answer questions on an informal basis preliminary design plans will be available for review.
The County of Lackawanna Transit System (COLTS) will offer free rides to veterans and active duty military members on Monday, Nov. 11, in recognition of their service to our country. Veterans should show the bus driver their VA card or honorable discharge papers, and active duty military members can show their Military ID cards. “We feel that it is important to honor the sacrifices made by our distinguished veterans and members of our military,” said Executive Director Bob Fiume. “Offering free rides to them is just a small token of our appreciation.”

SR 307 at Shady Lane, Rd, Lackawanna County, South Abington Township: The proposed project consists of the precast concrete box culvert extension of an existing arch culvert (over Summit Lake Creek) with cast-in-place concrete collar, precast wingwalls and precast end section. Other work includes roadway/ shoulder improvements, guiderail, installation of rock lined swales, slope stability, utility relocation, rock scour protection, concrete arch structure repair, temporary traffic control, temporary traffic signals, excavation, drainage, landscaping, E & S control measures, pavement markings and temporary excavation. Update: The project is waiting for replacement of utilities. The project should be completed by end of November.
UPDATE: FOUR LANES ARE NOW OPEN: SR 3022 Central Scranton Expressway, Scranton, PA. Retaining wall repair, Safety improvements and paving work on the Central Scranton Expressway. The project is excepted to be completed by mid-November.

Luzerne County Transportation Authority (LCTA), will once again uphold their longstanding tradition of honoring area veterans and active duty military on Veteran’s Day, Monday, November 11th. LCTA will offer FREE RIDES on its fixed route buses. Veterans should show the bus driver their Military ID Card; VA Medical Card or Certificate of Discharge. Active duty will simply show their military identification.
SR 309 SB work will be performed on the North Cross Valley River Bridge, SR 309 SB, between Exit #3 & #4 on Tuesday November 12 through Friday November 15, 2019. Traffic will be down to one lane on SR 309 SB between the hours of 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The contractor will be installing expansion dam glands and making repairs to the bridge deck. Short term traffic delays are expected between the hours of 9:00 am to 2:00 PM due to the temporary lane closure. This work is weather dependent.

Update: Starting on Monday, November 4 through Tuesday, November 12 crews will be milling and paving. North bound will be from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM and South bound from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. SR 309 North Cross Valley bridge project: Replacement of the bridge at exit 6 in Luzerne. The work will take place between Exits 4 and 6. Please note that two lanes will be open north and south during the construction. Completion will be November 2019
SR 309, section 362 over Laurel Run Creek at SR 115: The project consists of culvert repair which includes repairing the undermined arch culvert foundation and channel scour, replacing the deteriorated concrete invert slab with a reinforced concrete slab, constructing outlet apron with extra depth cut-off walls and slab to end of wing walls at both ends and providing Type 2 concrete repairs to spalls in water main encasement. The project should be completed by May 2020.
The SR 309 Off-Ramp from SR 309 Southbound to River Street (SR 2004) Exit 3 (Plains/Wilkes-Barre) on the North Cross Valley will be closed until the fall of 2020. During this time, the bridge deck and parapets will be removed and replaced. Bridge beams and girders will be abrasive blasted, primed painted. The posted detour will lead motorists to Exit 2 (Wilkes-Barre/Center City), to Wilkes-Barre Boulevard North, where temporary traffic signals have been installed, to SR 309 North and back to River Street. A special provision was made for emergency vehicles that will allow them to exit SR 309 SB at a newly constructed off-ramp that leads to River Street. Emergency responders will be going against the normal flow of traffic, but behind concrete barriers. Completion – fall 2020.
SR 309 in Mt Top started a week ago, the entire roadway is milled, it is being scratched, and lastly it will be paved with the final wearing course by the end of October. Guiderail and line painting to be completed into November.
SR 3034 (Butler Ave) Conyngham: PennDOT has closed the bridge on SR 3034 (Butler Ave) Conyngham after a routine inspection. The bridge will be replaced starting in the spring of 2020. A detour is in place.
South Valley Parkway Project - The Intersection of SR 2008 (Middle Road) & Prospect Street in Nanticoke closed on September 3 for Installation of New Roundabout. From September 3 to October 31 construction will take place on the final roundabout in the South Valley Parkway Project. During construction, the intersection at Prospect Street and Middle Road will be closed with a detour posted. The work will take place near Luzerne County Community College and Greater Nanticoke Area High School, so motorists who are going to these schools are reminded to follow the posted detour, which may differ from their GPS. This construction project is coinciding with a second roundabout and access road that is being built by a private contractor to access the new Hanover 9 Industrial Park. The Hanover 9 closure is on The South Valley Parkway, between Middle Road and SR 29. Both projects are anticipated to be completed by October 31.

SR 2001 Lehman Township. The second segment of the SR 2001-project will be construction of a temporary road and a permanent road. SR 1012 A detour began on September 6th, 2019 for S.R. 1012, Section 550, locally known as East Lake Road in Oakland Township, Penna.. The detour is expected to be in place until October 30th, 2019. The description of work is as follows: The S.R. 1012 Section 550 scope of work is to replace the S.D. 12'-0" x 10'-9" corrugated metal pipe with a 12'-0" x 11'-0" proposed corrugated metal pipe culvert over Lewis Creek. A detour will be in place during construction. Other work includes excavation, bituminous paving, pavement markings, temporary traffic control, E&S control measures, signing, guiderail, delineators and other miscellaneous structure work.
SR 1016:The contractor, Clearwater Construction will close the road & implement the detour on SR 1016, New Milford for the replacement of the bridge over the railroad tracks on starting Monday, April 22, at 7:00 AM. The detour will be SR 0011 to Montrose St, New Milford. The work is expected to be completed on November 30.
SR 2021 in Lenox Township, Susquehanna County, the bridge structure over the East branch of Tunkhannock Creek is down to one lane to begin phase 1 construction for a super structure replacement project. One lane of traffic will remain open over the structure in the north & south direction under temporary signals which will be in operation for the duration of the project. The work will occur between the intersection of SR 2035 to the intersection of SR 2021 and SR 374 Lenox Township, The project is scheduled to be completed August 2020.
SR 2029 is closed from the Intersection of SR 2027 and SR 2029 to the intersection of SR 2029 and SR 2031 (Cottrell Rd) for a bridge replacement project. A detour will be implemented to assist the traveling public in getting around the construction. This work is scheduled to be completed by November 11, 2019.

SR 1002: A recent inspection on the Skinners Falls Bridge (Milanville Road) over the Delaware River identified various structural issues that have caused the department to close the bridge until further notice. Although the average daily traffic on this bridge is approximately 325 cars, this bridge is one of 10 bridges in PennDOT District 4 that connect Pennsylvania with New York, and is therefore part of the Joint Interstate Bridge Commission. Originally built in 1901, the bridge is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and is located within the National Park Service Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. Coordination will continue with NY DOT along with various other state and federal agencies to determine the next step for the bridge. A detour will be posted from SR 1002 to SR 1004 (Milanville Rd) to SR 1008 (Plank Road) to the Narrowsburg Bridge and to SR 97 in New York.

SR 29 Noxen Township: The project involves the reconstruction of two sections of roadway along SR 29 in Noxen Township, Wyoming County. The repairs will occur between Keiper Road and Butry Road, approximately 0.8 miles southwest of the village of Noxen. The reconstruction is necessitated by the slope failure of the underlying roadway. The project will be completed using staged construction and will maintain one lane of through traffic at all times by utilizing temporary traffic signals. Other work includes bituminous paving, line painting and guiderail work, The project should be completed by Oct 2019.
SR 87 Contractor is overlaying SR 87 from SR 3001 intersection in Forkston Township to SR 4002 intersection in Mehoopany Township. The work should be completed by the week of November 3.
SR 2012 the bridge project is in design for SR 2012. At that point PennDOT plans to begin demolition on SR 2012. Demolition is excepted to take six weeks. The project will carry over to the 2020 construction season.
SR 3007 the Vosburg bridge in Wyoming County should be complete and open to traffic by mid-November
