Roadway Improvement Work Continues in Juniata County


Mifflintown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) issued an update today on a project that will see improvements to nearly 15 miles of roadway in Juniata and Mifflin counties. This project will improve ride quality and extend the useful life of the roadway surface. Work scheduled is as follows:

Juniata County:

Crews will begin paving operations and shoulder work on Route 2021 (Valley View Road) near Seven Stars on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20. Paving operations and shoulder work are also scheduled to begin on Route 2017 (Cocolamus Creek Road) near Goodville and Route 2022 (Quaker Run Road) in Knousetown the week of July 22. Crews will also begin drainage improvements on Route 2001 (Industrial Park Road) near Mifflintown the week of July 22.

Mifflin County:

No work scheduled this week.

Other Juniata County roads in this project include:

• Route 1007 (Heister Valley Road) near Richfield
• Route 3002 (William Penn Highway) near Mifflintown
• Route 2028 (Goodville Road) near Goodville

Other Mifflin County roads in this project include:

• Route 1003 (Locke Mills Road) in Siglerville

PennDOT will issue updates as work locations change. New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. is the contractor on this $2.7 million project, which is expected to be finish by mid-September.

PennDOT reminds drivers to remain alert in construction zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.

Motorists are encouraged to “Know Before They Go” by checking conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 950 traffic cameras
