Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 12 is offering a digital public display to show the plans for the Interstate 70 over Buffalo Creek Preservation Project.
In lieu of a public meeting, the information is being presented on PennDOT’s webpage in digital format. To access the webpage visit www.PennDOT.gov/District12 click on the “Public Meetings” link under the “District Links heading,” pick the Washington County box, and then choose the I-70 Bridge Rehabilitation tile.
The I-70 over Buffalo Creek bridge project is located in Buffalo Township, Washington County. There are two structures located at mile marker 9 on I-70. Emergency repairs were made in 2019 and now more permanent repairs will be made to extend the life of the structures. The work includes replacing the rocker bearings with modern bearings and removing expansion dams to make the deck continuous. The work will be performed within existing Right-of-Way. Traffic Control will be short term single lane closures of approximately one week per lane and only one direction at a time. There will also be several nightly lane closures from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and several 15-minute rolling stops which will occur at approximately 2:00 AM.
