Plans Display Route 2027 Bridge over Interstate 70 at Speers Interchange Speers Borough, Washington County
Uniontown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will conduct a plan display to inform the public of the proposed project for replacing the bridge on Route 2027 (Maple Drive) that spans Interstate 70 (I-70) in Speers Borough, Washington County. The existing bridge, located at the Speers Interchange, has a vertical clearance over I-70 of just 14.3 feet, which has resulted in the existing structure being periodically hit by taller vehicles. The new bridge will improve this vertical clearance by about two (2) feet which will require adjustments to Route 2027 approach roadways as well as Guttman Avenue and the eastbound on/off interchange ramps. The new bridge will also be wider as it will add a southbound left turn lane for traffic making the left onto the eastbound on ramp.
The purpose of this meeting is to present the proposed plans and potential alternatives for maintaining traffic during construction. PennDOT representatives, along with design consultants, will be available to answer questions and gather input regarding the project.
