I-376 Parkway East Bridge Dam Replacement Work this Weekend in Pittsburgh


Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing bridge dam replacement work on I-376 (Parkway East) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will occur this weekend, Friday night, November 9 through Monday morning, November 12 weather permitting.

Bridge dam replacements and other miscellaneous construction activities will occur on I-376 requiring the following restrictions: 

  • Westbound (inbound) two-lane closure between the Greenfield Bridge and the Oakland (73B) interchange from 6 p.m. Friday night continuously through 5 a.m. Monday morning

  • Eastbound (outbound) single-lane closure between the Bates Street on-ramp and the Greenfield Bridge from 7 p.m. Friday night continuously through noon on Sunday

Additionally, the following ramps will be closed to traffic: 

  • The Beechwood Boulevard/Forward Avenue on-ramp to westbound (inbound) I-376 toward Pittsburgh (Ramp A) from 7 p.m. Saturday continuously through 5 a.m. Monday morning

  • The Forward Avenue on-ramp to westbound (inbound) I-376 (Ramp C) via Ramp A (See attached map) from 7 p.m. Saturday continuously through 5 a.m. Monday morning

Ramp traffic will be detoured.

Beechwood Boulevard/Forward Avenue on-ramp to Westbound (inbound) I-376 toward Pittsburgh (Ramps A and C)

  • Follow Beechwood Boulevard past the closed ramp

  • Take the ramp to eastbound I-376 toward Monroeville

  • Take the Edgewood/Swissvale off-ramp (Exit 77)

  • Bear right toward Swissvale

  • Turn left onto Monongahela Avenue

  • Turn left onto South Braddock Avenue

  • Take the ramp to westbound I-376 toward Pittsburgh

  • Follow westbound I-376 back to the closed ramp

  • End detour

Motorists should expect significant delays during peak travel times and should consider alternate routes. Please allow extra travel time in and around the City of Pittsburgh this weekend.

The $26.39 million Parkway East Improvement Project located between the Fort Pitt Bridge and the Edgewood/Swissvale interchange includes milling and resurfacing, concrete patching, ramp improvements, bridge dam replacement, barrier repair work, guiderail improvements, and minor bridge repairs.  Overnight and weekend work will occur, with two weekend closures for bridge dam replacement work, and five weekend long single-lane restrictions for paving in 2018. Swank Construction Company is the contractor.
