Interstate 79 Ramp Closure Scheduled in Erie County

Oil City, PA – The ramp that carries northbound traffic from Interchange Road onto Interstate 79 in Millcreek Township, Erie County, is scheduled to be closed next week due to construction work.
The northbound on-ramp at Exit 180 (Kearsarge) is scheduled to close at 9 PM on Saturday, October 14, and reopen at noon on Sunday, October 15.
The closure is due work on the road base and paving.
A detour will be required during the closure. The posted detour route will use Interchange Road, Zuck Road and West 26th Street.
The work is part of the Interchange Road/Zimmerly Road Improvement Project, a $20.9 million, multi-year project to improve the safety and efficiency on an approximately 1.5-mile-long section of Interchange Road/Zimmerly Road.
Preliminary site preparation work started in October 2016. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2018.
PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
