Traffic Pattern Changes Planned for Seneca Street in Oil City, Venango County

11/22/2019

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Venango County are urging motorists to be alert for traffic pattern changes on Seneca Street in Oil City, Venango County.

Work has started to change a portion of Seneca Street to two-way traffic and open the new connector road, known as Clifford Street, in downtown Oil City.

Seneca Street is currently restricted to one lane between Duncomb Street and Clifford Street as work is underway to construct a concrete island at the intersection of Seneca Street and Clifford Street. On-street parking in the same stretch of roadway has been closed as well.

Starting Monday, November 25, 2019, work will get underway to place new pavements markings and lines on Seneca Street between Duncomb and Clifford streets, weather permitting.

Once the markings are in place, the signal at the intersection of Seneca Street and Duncomb Street will be disabled, and traffic will be controlled by temporary stop signs. A 90-day traffic study will be conducted to determine what type of permanent control devices or signs should be installed at the intersection.

Elm Street will be closed at Clifford Street and traffic will redirected to use the new connector street.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
