Wolf Administration Announces Start of Route 309 Safety Improvement Project in Bucks County

12/14/2018

King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, December 17, on a project to install Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) systems at 17 intersections along Route 309 (West End Boulevard) and several adjacent roads in Richland Township and Quakertown Borough, Bucks County.

“These signal upgrades will improve the commute for thousands of motorists by helping to reduce congestion on this state highway,” said Governor Tom Wolf.

In addition to the signal improvements, ADA curb ramps and pedestrian signage will also be added at each intersection.

On Monday, December 17, through mid-January, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, weekday lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 309 (West End Boulevard) between Rich Hill Road and Mill Road for survey operations.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

The entire project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2021.

Kuharchik Construction, Inc., of Exeter, PA is the general contractor on the $3,686,191 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
