Swede Hill Road Bridge Replacement Project
This project involves the complete replacement of the existing single-span concrete T-beam and Rolled Steel Facia I-Beam bridge that carries Swede Hill Road over an unnamed tributary of Jacks Run. The project is located in the northeastern part of Hempfield Township near its border with the boroughs of Greensburg and Southwest Greensburg, Westmoreland County.
The proposed replacement structure consists of a cast-in-place concrete box culvert. Installation of the proposed culvert will require closure of the roadway and a detour for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Associated roadway improvements include guide rail replacement and new inlets and subsurface pipes to improve roadway drainage capacity.
Construction is scheduled for the summer of 2022.
