​​Lake Wilhelm Road Bridge Preservation Project

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to a plans display regarding the preservation of the Lake Wilhelm Road (Route 1009) Bridge over Lake Wilhelm in New Vernon Township, Mercer County.

The bridge is located on Lake Wilhelm Road, approximately one-half mile from the intersection with State Route 1014 (Georgetown Road). 

Plans for the project will be displayed:

Date:               August 19 to August 30, 2019
Time:              8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Monday through Friday)
Location:       Maurice K. Goddard State Park
                         684 Lake Wilhelm Road
                         Sandy Lake, PA 16145

A digital version of the plans display is also available.

The project will include resurfacing the bridge deck, as well as work on erosion protection and roadway approaches. It is expected to occur during the 2020 construction season. ​

One lane of traffic and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the project. 

The existing bridge was built in 1969. Approximately 575 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.
