Superload Effect on Pavement Life
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to evaluate the effect of superloads on the durability and longevity of concrete and bituminous pavements. This research will capture how to assess distress and damage caused by superloads to Pennsylvania pavements, how to change pavement design to account for superloads, include recommendations for increased design loads, better design methodologies, different pavement thickness or type to handle these concentrated loads, and suggestions for changes to PennDOT standards and specifications.
