Updated Liquid Fuel Payments to Municipalities
The following explains the updated distribution calculations for the 2014 Payments to Municipalities.
- Payments will be distributed to eligible jurisdictions on March 1, which is a month earlier than under previous statutory authority.
- Department of Revenue recertified the FY 2013-14 Motor License Fund estimate, which includes revised motor fuel rates beginning in January (vs. December as assumed in estimates prior to
the final version of H.B. 1060).
- PennDOT completed its annual update of municipal roadway mileage, which represents 50% of the distribution calculation. (The remaining 50% is based on population, which is revised every
10 years from national census data.
- In accordance with Section 2001.5(b) of the Administrative Code, 71 P.S. § 511.5(b), the cost incurred by PennDOT in the inspection of a municipal bridge will be deducted from that
municipality’s distribution calculation amount.
