Pittsburgh – PennDOT District 11 is announcing lane restrictions on the Elizabeth Bridge (Route 51) in Elizabeth and West Elizabeth boroughs, Allegheny County, will occur Saturday, December 2 weather permitting.
Single-lane restrictions in each direction will occur as needed on the Elizabeth Bridge from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Crews will conduct paint containment system installation.
The preparatory work is part of the $31.3 million Elizabeth Bridge Rehabilitation Project. Improvements include concrete deck and barrier replacement, steel repairs, expansion dam replacement, bearing repairs, concrete substructure repairs, full painting, and drainage upgrades on the Elizabeth Bridge over the Monongahela River. Additionally, five other structures at the bridge will be rehabilitated. Long-term single-lane restrictions will occur in 2018.
Swank Construction Company LLC is the prime contractor.
