The project consists of rock slope safety improvements along 4 primary slope sections adjacent to U.S. 11/15 and paralleling the Norfolk Southern Railroad in both East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County and Marysville Borough, Perry County. The project limits of work are from the I-81/U.S. 11-15 interchange to just south of Ridgeview Drive, approximately 1 mile in length. The project will include the roadway closure of U.S. 11/15 within the limits of work for approximately 3 months in the spring/summer of 2016 with a planned detour using U.S. 22/322. Project work includes slope de-vegetation, rock scaling at slope heights varying from 140 - 250 feet in height, permanent wire mesh protection systems placed against the rock face and rock bolting, rock fall fence and safety shape barrier installation in the shoulder area, shoulder reconstruction, milling and resurfacing along various sections of the roadway, drainage, guide rail, signing and pavement marking upgrades, tree removal and trimming along the entire limits of work , and other miscellaneous construction work.
