​The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will begin work next week to improve more than 41 miles of roadway in Centre and Clinton counties. This work, set to start Tuesday, May 1, will improve roadway ride quality and extend the life of the roadway surface. Overall work will include milling, base repair, resurfacing, curbing, sidewalks, and guide rail updates on sections of seven routes in Centre County and five routes in Clinton County.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that paving at the intersection of Routes 255 and 153 in Penfield is expected to begin Monday, April 30. Paving will begin at the bridge over Wilson Run and continue to approximately 900 feet north of the intersection.

Work to replace a bridge on Route 35 in Juniata County is scheduled to start next week, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The bridge spans East Licking Creek, about one mile southwest of Mifflin Borough. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Juniata County’s structurally deficient bridge list.

Work to complete the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Linn Street wall project in Bellefonte will begin next week. On Monday, April 23, crews will mill the roadway surface, followed by paving on Tuesday, April 24. This work zone is in and near the intersection of Route 144 (Linn Street) and Route 150 at the northwest end of Bellefonte Borough.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that the Rockview Driver License Center at 812 West College Avenue in Pleasant Gap will be closed for renovations from Monday, April 23 through Saturday,May 12.

With construction and utility work continuing, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is issuing an update for its North Atherton Street project in State College. The entire project will take place through 2019, with phased work zones stretching from Aaron Drive to Park Avenue. Work will include relocation of numerous utility lines, relocation of sewer and water lines, drainage improvements, curbing, sidewalks, ADA ramps, traffic signal upgrades, new concrete median, and paving.

With repairs complete, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has removed weight restrictions on a Rich Valley Road/Straight Creek Road (Route 4004) bridge in Cameron County. The 51-foot bridge spans the Driftwood Branch of Sinnemahoning Creek in Shippen Township, east of the Elk/Cameron County line. The bridge carries an average of less than 50 vehicles daily.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that the I-80 eastbound and westbound rest areas near the Snow Shoe/147 exit in Centre County have re-opened.

Construction for a Route 346 (Derrick Road) bridge in McKean County has been postponed. The bridge spans Foster Brook in Foster Township. Replacement work was previously scheduled to begin the week of April 9.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), and its safety partners coached about 50 Centre County residents last night on how to avoid risks facing teen drivers at the “Arrive Safe” event at Bellefonte Area High School. The aim of the program was to educate not just young drivers, but the parents who will be teaching them to drive.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that roadway improvement work is underway on a section of I-80 in Centre County. The work zone stretches eastbound and westbound from the viaduct bridges at mile-marker 138 to the Yarnell area at mile-marker 155 and drivers should be prepared for slow moving/stopped traffic. Drivers could encounter more than one travel restriction throughout the work zone.

Work began today on the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Route 6 improvement project in Kane. This work will extend the useful life of the roadway and improve overall ride quality.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists to the closure of I-80 eastbound and westbound rest areas near the Snow Shoe/147 exit in Centre County. These are full closures with vehicles prohibited from entering the parking lots.

On Monday, April 9, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will re-start work to replace a bridge on Route 59 in Keating Township, McKean County. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from McKean County’s structurally deficient list.

Monday, April 9 will bring the start of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) roadway improvement job on Route 66 in McKean County, south of Kane. This work will improve the ride quality and useful life on almost two miles of roadway from the McKean/Elk county line north toward Kane.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that I-80 eastbound and westbound in Clearfield County has reopened. The road had been closed since Wednesday evening due to multiple, weather-related crashes. I-80 eastbound is now open from the 101/DuBois interchange to the 120/Clearfield interchange. I-80 westbound is now open from the 120/Clearfield interchange to the 101/DuBois interchange

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that sections of I-80 eastbound and westbound in Clearfield County are currently closed due to weather-related crashes. I-80 eastbound is closed from the 101/DuBois interchange to the 120/Clearfield interchange. A detour is in place using Routes 255, 219, 322, and 879. I-80 westbound is closed from the 120/Clearfield interchange to the 101/DuBois interchange. No detour is in place currently for westbound traffic.

Governor Tom Wolf and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Leslie S. Richards today highlighted transportation investments as PennDOT held an event outlining the anticipated 179 roadway miles that will be rehabilitated, reconstructed or resurfaced, and 66 bridges that will be improved this year in the nine-county northcentral region.
