Uniontown, PA – Construction for the Route 31 bridge, spanning Jacobs Creek in Bullskin and Mount Pleasant Townships, Westmoreland and Fayette Counties, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from the state’s structurally deficient bridge list.

The Zediker Station Road (Route 1049) bridge, which spans a Branch of Little Chartiers Creek in South Strabane Township, Washington County, that’s been under construction as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, is complete and open to traffic. Replacement of the bridge allows PennDOT to remove it from Washington County’s structurally deficient bridge list.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Leslie S. Richards today recognized 30 PennDOT employees for their outstanding performance with the Star of Excellence Award, PennDOT’s highest recognition. Two employees from PennDOT’s District 12, which represents Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties were among the honorees.

Construction for the Route 982 (Latrobe Street) bridge, spanning Ninemile Run in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Westmoreland County’s structurally deficient bridge list.

PennDOT District 12 would like to advise motorists of a lane restriction on Route 136 (Main Street), from the intersection of Route 201 and Route 136 to the intersection of Route 31 and Route 136 in Rostraver Township/ West Newton Borough, Westmoreland County. Work begins on Tuesday May 16 from 6:30 am. to 6:30 pm. with an anticipated completion date of Wednesday May 17 weather permitting.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will conduct a plan display to inform the public of the proposed reconstruction of Interstate 70 (I-70) at the Yukon (Exit 53) and Madison (Exit 54) interchanges located in South Huntingdon, Sewickley and Hempfield Townships, Westmoreland County.

PennDOT District 12 would like to advise motorists of a road closure on a section of Route 2020 (Plumbsock Road) for slide repair, between Route 221 (Dunns Station Road) and Farabee Road, in Morris Township Washington County. Work will begin on Monday May 15, and will continue until Friday June 30 Weather permitting.

The community is invited to a public meeting regarding the replacement of one Greene County bridge included in the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. The meeting will be focused on important information including the construction schedule and traffic change that is planned to take effect while the bridge is being replaced.

The Englishman Hill Road (Route 1050) bridge, which spans Mounts Creek in Bullskin Township, Fayette County, reopened to traffic on Friday, April 28. This bridge was replaced as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project and allows PennDOT to remove it from the state's structurally deficient bridge list.
