Improvement Project to begin on West Road in Erie County

05/19/2017

Oil City, PA – Motorists will have a smoother ride on a 3.2-mile-long section of West Road in McKean Township and McKean Borough in Erie County following completion of a $3.4 million resurfacing project that is to begin next week.
The project includes the entire length of Route 3020 (West Road) from the intersection with Route 99 (Main Street) in McKean Borough to the intersection with Route 832 in McKean Township.
Work will involve milling and resurfacing, paved shoulders, bridge structure work, along with updating drainage, sidewalks and curb ramps, guiderails, signs, and pavement markings.
The contractor is Mayer Brothers Construction Company, Inc. of Erie, PA. The contract cost is $3,396,746, which is to be paid entirely with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.
Work is expected to begin the week of May 22, 2017, weather permitting, and is scheduled to be completed by October 9, 2017.
No detours are anticipated with the project, but motorists will encounter lane restrictions controlled by flaggers and temporary signals.
PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
